My biggest editing mistake

I want to save you from making the same mistake I did—not just when I started editing, but over and over again until I finally realized it and changed it.

If I had actually listened to this advice earlier, I’d probably be much further along in my editing business. And honestly, this applies not just to editing but to pretty much any business.

So, what was the mistake?

Every time I started seeing positive results, whether it was a big success or just a small win, I slowed down. Sometimes, I even stopped completely.

For example, when I landed a new client, I completely stopped doing outreach. I wouldn’t start again for months, basically until I decided I wanted another client. And the problem with that? When you stop for a long time, it always takes weeks to get the momentum back. At least for me, it usually took 2 to 3 weeks before I even started getting replies again, and even longer if I had also stopped posting on X.

So, here’s my advice: when you start seeing results, push even harder. Don’t slow down, at least not until you’ve hit a much bigger milestone.

Learn from my mistake, and keep the momentum going.

Stay consistent,
David
